We got some big news recently. Grantmakers for Girls of Color is among the 116 organizations MacKenzie Scott has pledged to support.

All 116 organizations were selected for their transformative work on racial and gender equity and other critical issues. We thank MacKenzie Scott for honoring the pledge she made last year to give the majority of her wealth back to the society that helped generate it.

Girls and gender expansive youth of color live at the intersections of sexism, racism, and other forms of oppression. Originally launched as a network for funders in 2015, today Grantmakers for Girls of Color (G4GC) is a leading philanthropic organization dedicated to cultivating investments in support of girls of color (Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian and Pacific American) in the U.S.

In May of 2020, G4GC launched the Love is Healing COVID-19 Response Fund, its first grantmaking milestone as an organization, and has awarded more than $1.5 million to more than 80 organizations across the country. G4GC also serves as a shared resource for philanthropic efforts seeking to support girls, fem(mes) and gender expansive youth of color and openly invites partners and stakeholders to co-create an inclusive space toward their wellbeing across programmatic issues and geographic areas.

With MacKenzie Scott’s gift, and the powerful partnership of so many more leaders across the country in the works, G4GC will continue to grow and resource organizations led by and working with girls of color toward the goal of achieving equity and justice.
