After two years of collaborating and strategizing, our movement is becoming stronger and more unified than ever. We are ready to take on the courageous and urgent conversations this moment requires.
On June 7, 2017, more than 125 funders will meet for an all-day convening in New York to hold an urgent conversation with and about girls of color and safety.
At the convening we will hear from girls of color most impacted by interpersonal and state violence and how movements are responding. We will explore how funders can best support efforts working to create safety. We will focus on intersecting safety concerns facing girls of color, as prioritized by those leading movements. The convening will explore safety broadly, while also providing space to examine specific forms of violence that are growing yet remain overlooked and underfunded, in such areas as:
Sexual violence and abuse;
Schools and policing; and
Migration and mobility.
We hope everyone will walk away with a stronger sense of community and a deepened commitment to invest in the immediate and long-term needs and leadership of girls of color.
