On May 24, 2017 the Washington Area Women’s Foundation launched its Young Women’s Initiative, a city-wide effort to improve outcomes and increase resources for young women and girls of color between the ages of 12-24. An important part of the Initiative is hearing from the community and from young women, about the most pressing issues and to develop solutions together. As we seek to develop a community action plan that outlines the services and resources needed for our young women, we want to hear from you. We invite parents and families to join this town hall conversation on June 21, 2017 to talk about your concerns for the young women and girls in your lives and to help develop solutions that will enable them to thrive.
They say it takes a village to raise a child – let us come together to share concerns, identify areas for collaboration, and determine possible solutions to protect and be of greater support to the young women and girls in our city.
